President Armen Sarkissian, who is at the United States on a three-day visit, on June 26 participated at the reception in the Dirksen Senate Office Building dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Armenian Republic. The festive event organized jointly by the Embassy of Armenia to the US, ARF Eastern Region Central Committee and the Washington Office of Armenian Cause (Hay Dat), concluded a series of events at the East Coast of the US dedicated to the centennial of the First Republic.
At the event, President Sarkissian made a statement in which he spoke in particular about the role and significance of the First Armenian Republic, highlighted the importance of the friendly relations between Armenia and the United States and the need to deepen them further, about having a powerful and developed state which will make proud Armenians all over the world.
“The message today is clear. We will do it. We will win. We will show the world not only revolution Armenian-style, we can not only build a country and call it a new Armenia, but that new Armenia is going to be a powerful country, a country that we all will be proud of, and we will march the world being proud Armenians,” said the President.
The reception was attended by the members of the US Congress and Senate, high-ranking US officials, several hundreds of representatives of the Armenian community of America who have arrived from different parts of the country.
